Like everyone else who enjoys spending time on our lovely beaches, Flo and I are very conscious about caring for the environment. By removing some of the ceramics and glass from the harbour beach and creating something new out of it, we’re upcycling. We want to make something new out of what has been left behind. We aim to create works that people will appreciate, cherish and remind them of the unwavering beauty of St Ives.
Every time we look for beach findings, we always try to pick up any plastic that we see. Sometimes on the Harbour beach the plastic debris is hard to spot but unfortunately it is there. We always try to do our bit to help keep our beaches clean.
Here are some of the items we’ve found and then disposed of in the rightful place –
Wrappers & Wires! bottle, straw, bottle tops! Bits of plastic More plastic and rope! plastic, plastic, plastic! More plastic – bottles & stuff! Bits of forgotten plastic Ring pulls, bits of can Crisp packet and stuff Old goggles! Fragments of bottles and hairbands! Plastic power & cord!
